The benefits of revision
Revising for an exam is not an easy process for students. However, it can be beneficial if students get used to reviewing constantly and effectively.
What are the benefits of revision?
-reinforces learning when it becomes a habit, when it is faced as an inseparable part of students’ routine
-brain keeps deeply the new knowledge and, in this way, it is applied more easily
-teachers can assess students more thoroughly through revision exercises or tests and not only the term exams
-students may gain more confidence and improve their performance – high results boost students’ belief in their cognitive abilities
How could students revise effectively?
It would be a good idea for teachers to recommend revision methods
Flash cards, summaries and presenting the topics to your peers are some common methods. Keeping your personal notes is another way of recalling information.
Maths, Physics, Chemistry can not be revised in the way technique as History, Literature and Philosophy. Students should find their best way of reviewing each lesson.
When is it good for students to revise?
Last but not least, the time and the duration of the reviewing process does play a role. Students could create a schedule that they should follow during their exam period. How many hours could they review? What time of the day? In the morning, afternoon or after 8 pm?
Wishing all the students high exams results!
