Holy Prophet Elias, an important Prophet in the Christian tradition

Holy Prophet Elias is celebrated with great honor on July 20 in both Eastern and Western Christian tradition. Holy Prophet Elias is considered pivotal Prophet for the Orthodox and Catholic pilgrims. The Greek Orthodox  Christian hold celebrations to honor Prophet Elias all around Greece.

Prophet Elias (Elijah, Ilias, Elias) is connected with a lot of miracles. This Prophet was lifted on sky with horses. That is why all the churches are on the top of mountainous locations. He is considered the symbol of devotion to God.
