Halvas is …

Halvas is  a popular and delicious dessert for the Holy Lent.

In Greece it always consumed tthe first day of the Holy Lent, on Clean Monday,  as well as the whole period of Sarakosti. 

 

Have you ever tasted halvas with semolina and nuts?

If not, do it? It is a juicy sweet. The syrop makes halvas’ taste authentic.  No eggs no butter and no flour are needed. Therefore, halvas is light, too.

 

Is it easy to make it?

Yes, it is. The recipe is fast easy.

 

What are the ingrdeients?

Ingredients

 

The ingredients are as follows:

semolina

sugar

cinammon

zest of a lemon

nuts

 

Ingredients for the syrop

sugar, water and the surface of lemon

Procedure

 

– fry the semolina in the pan

– bake the almonds until they become brown

– warm the oil

– add the semolina

 

Last but not least:

– decorate the halvas with …, almonds and clove.

If you want, add pomegranate for colour.
