Εxtra-curricular activities – Why are the extracurricular sactivities so important?
Τhere is a variety of extra-curricular activities children can follow. Sports, music, theatrical education, dancing, arts, photograph clubs, chess clubs, debating clubs, poetry clubs, cooking clubs. Extracurricular activities are useful because they encourage the development of social and emotional skills. Kids and teenagers can explore their talents. During their exhausting school routine, students can’t find time to develop skills that are related to traditional subjects. Therefore, extracurricular activities could work as a base to develop their emotional wellbeing.
Benefits of extracurricular activities
-Communication and collaboration
While attending extracurricular courses, children are members of a class or a small group of peers. When they participate in sports teams or other clubs, they are given the opportunity to widen their circle and make new friends.
-Discovering interests
The great variety of extracurricular activities surely help students explore new areas of interests. They may discover some personal abilities to develop that are not related to Maths, Language, History lessons. So, extracurricular activities offer them a platform to make decisions about their academic and professional future.
-Building confidence
Theatrical education, sports clubs as well as arts foster kids and adults self- esteem. They gradually learn to be more confident and to believe in their abilities. Moreover, they step by step become more flexible and try to find solutions to problems they face at school or out of school.
